After fighting alongside our community since 2020, Iʼm pleased to announce that construction has officially begun on the brand-new high school for Jordan Springs - the first ever public high school to be built in the area.
At the 2023 State election, I committed to building a public high school for Jordan Springs, which is scheduled to open on Day 1, Term 1 2027.
The new high school is located in Jordan Springs East, on the corner of Armoury Road and Infantry Street. It will include 51 modern classrooms, three support classrooms, 10 workshops, three sports courts, a playing field and multipurpose hall.
MORE TEACHERS FOR OUR CHILDREN
Because of the former Liberal Governmentʼs unfair wages cap and neglect of public education, teacher vacancies reached an all time high, resulting in 10,000 merged and cancelled classes across NSW every day.
When the Minns Labor Government was elected one of our priorities was to rebuild our education system. Just in the last two and a half years we've:
- Delivered the largest pay rise in a generation to all of NSWʼs public school teachers;
- Reduced teacher vacancies across by 59 per cent locally meaning our kids are spending more time learning in class and receiving more one-on-one attention from their teachers;
- Begun delivering 192 new classrooms across our community; and
- Nearly halved the number of merged and cancelled classes by getting more teachers into the classroom.
Rebuilding our education system takes time but we are committed to getting the job done.
Thank you to everyone who fought alongside me to deliver this school - we could not have done this without you.
